Canadian National Exhibition

We went to the Canadian National Exhibition last week. We saw the SuperDogs Show, rock balancing, comedic hypnotist Terrance B, an aerial acrobatics and ice skating show, and the International Sand Sculpting Competition. We also rode on the Sky Ride.

Super Cute

I saw this child's bureau (dresser) in a store window. I thought it was so very cute! They used small stuffed animals for the knobs!

Picton and Guelph

On Friday we headed to Picton, Ontario for a funeral. Picton is about two hours from the Toronto area. My husband’s aunt passed away. It was nice seeing the family, although it would have been nicer to see them under better circumstances. After the funeral we went to another aunt’s place for sandwiches and sweets. They live on a farm in Prince Edward County (just outside of Picton). We hadn’t been there in years but it brought back a lot of memories of when we took our kids there when they were young. Here are a few pictures of their garden.

On Saturday we headed to Guelph (business and pleasure). We went to a farmer’s market and we walked around the downtown area and did some shopping. We took Neil with us. Lucky dog! He had a great day with us. He is such a happy dog. He met a lot of people who told him how pretty he is. I love old buildings.

Frog or Toad?

I am not a frog or toad expert, but I thought he was cute so I took his picture!

Weekend Food

Bistro Steak served with barbecued fresh green beans, roasted potatoes, mushrooms, and salad. We used a chili spice rub and a homemade steak sauce. Delicious! Thanks for the recipe, Bobby Flay!

Merry Christmas!

I made this sweet little Christmas pincushion and I wanted to share it with you! I love Christmas! It's my favourite time of year.

My Week in Pictures

We had a fabulous week. We spent a few days in Ottawa. We explored the downtown area. We found a nice pub with great food. We went to a farmer’s market. My daughter bought rhubarb macaroons! We bought honey and we even had a sit-down breakfast with the best coffee! Street food! Gotta love it!
Later in the week we headed to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of the prettiest places to visit. We went with another couple and we did a wine tour. We went to three wineries (Pondview Estate Winery, Pillitteri Estates Winery, and Konzelmann Estate Winery). It was an awesome experience. Each one was unique. I think I like wine even more now than before (is that possible?)! We went to Casino Niagara and I even bumped into someone I used to work with. We enjoyed a lovely dinner on main street Niagara-on-the-Lake (Zees Grill).  We shared a Classic Caesar, complete with beer-battered anchovies and hard-boiled quail eggs. And, are you ready for this, Nova Scotia Lobster Poutine (home-cut Yukon fries, butter poached lobster, white cheddar cheese curds, red wine veal jus, and hollandaise sauce)! OMG! Need I say more? Yes, we are going back there soon! I finished off the meal with pan-seared Atlantic salmon that melted in my mouth.
