Matryoshkas and Monkeys

I love matryoshkas. They are so cute. I've had this set for many years.
I got the key chain this Christmas from my daughter. She loves them too!

Weekend Dinner

We made fried fish sandwiches with tartar sauce and homemade "modern" coleslaw. I never really bothered with tartar sauce before I found this great recipe combo. So good! You can't eat just one! For recipes, go to http://www.lcbo.com/.

Cat in the Box

She couldn't stand it anymore. She has to get into any box (or item) that she finds. One time we had the furnace guy here and he had his briefcase open on the floor in front of him. Truffles walked back and forth about 20 times until she couldn't take it anymore. She got into his briefcase and sat down. Silly cat! If you look closely you can see that she is wearing her new bling. She has a collar with a bell, but she got a new tag with her name and phone number on it for Christmas (from our daughter). Truffles is an indoor cat.

Fossil Sewing Kit

My mother bought me this Fossil sewing kit for Christmas. I found it at The Bay (not eBay, “The” Bay). It is beautiful. I am a “Fossil” girl, so when I spotted it I picked it up not knowing it was a sewing kit. I just thought that it was a wallet/change purse. Then I saw the sewing machine etched on the front. Interesting… I opened it up not knowing what to expect, so when I saw all the sewing goodies inside I was thrilled with my find. It wasn’t cheap but I learned that it was 25% off, so I immediately went to the cash to pay for it. My mother then insisted that she wanted to buy it for me for Christmas. Thanks, Mom!

Packing Up Christmas

Yesterday, I packed up the Christmas tree and the decorations. I didn’t enjoy any nice peaceful days leading up to Christmas this year (it seems to come faster every year and I missed nine days when I was away in early December). So, I put on two of my all-time favourite Christmas CDs (on repeat), carefully packed up all the decorations, and sang my brains out to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s The Christmas Attic and Ally McBeal, A Very Ally Christmas featuring Vonda Shepard (boy, can that girl sing) and the show’s cast. The last song on The Christmas Attic CD, “Music Box Blues,” is a seldom-heard song but I love, love, love it. It makes me want to cry. Please listen to it some time. I had the cat sitting on a stack of storage boxes beside the couch and the dog had his head on my leg while I put the “special” ornaments in their respective boxes. It was a long process and I enjoyed every minute of it. The cat was not happy with me packing up her tree and putting all her “toys” away. She sat on ALL the boxes and basically got in the way. At the end, she was sitting on the tree skirt and I had to slide it, and her, out slowly until she finally got up.

She looks so sad here.

New this year from my daughter

I bought this one because of his hat and scarf!

Barbie Dream House

This is one of my favourite Christmas decorations.
Barbie is a mere two inches high, so that tells you how small this is.
Barbie rocks!
