Cross Stitch Love

I want you to know that I haven't been idly sitting around and not doing my cross-stitch and other sewing projects. Unfortunately, work and life get in the way sometimes. I was working on a cross-stitched dollhouse (two actually) that took FOREVER! So many small sections with lots of floss colours. They are finally finished! I posted one of them in my ETSY shop. Please check it out!

Also, I want to thank everyone who follows my blog. All 51 countries! How cool is that? I welcome your comments, too!

Cross Stitch Angel Tree Topper

I'm up and running!

I am working on a cross-stitch angel Christmas tree topper. Stay tuned for the progress on this one. I always work on a frame. It keeps the work neat, clean, and taut. I haven't had much time to stitch lately. I have been busy with the holidays, and I am working on other craft projects. Too many ideas, not enough time!

Also, I finally figured out how to upload photos to this blog. When I first tried after the new year, it seemed like Google was having a problem with this (I read a few comments online). Well, enough is enough, so I did some more research and I am back in action!

My "New" Studio/Office

My studio/office needs an overhaul. I need to reorganize my closet and all my containers. I was thinking about getting new doors for the closet because I don't like the ones that slide back and forth. They are not suitable. Opening and closing all the time and I couldn’t access the stack in the centre of the closet. I wanted doors that could open up at the same time. Then I decided to remove the doors altogether! So much better! It opens up the room and makes it feel so much bigger. I now also have full access and view! I love it! Now I will sort through all the bins and reorganize them even better than before. My huge bead container has already been done! It's not a big room, but it's functional.

One whole wall consists of shelves that house many things (books of all kinds, craft books, craft patterns, supplies, knick-knacks, magazines, photos, CDs, DVDs, etc.).

This view shows my desk, computer, photos, TV, and knick-knack shelf.

This wall consists of my closet (doors removed!), my filing cabinet, and Joey the budgie. Most of my supplies are in this closet. See the three Sheltie hooks on the back wall? There are even more containers stacked inside the closet to the right and left that you can’t see.

The couch (for creative thought), some of my CDs, a bulletin board, a picture of the Eiffel Tower (I hope to visit Paris someday), two Sheltie pillows, and, of course, a stuffed Sheltie! And, yes, that is a frog sitting on the couch. How did he get there? The turquoise container to the left has all my DMC floss in it, carefully stored in zip-lock bags.

The best part of the room—Neil the Shetland Sheepdog!

Bunny Biscornu

It all started with a little bunny button. I decided to make a cute cross-stitched biscornu with bunnies on it and add the bunny button as an extra added touch. It has taken a lot longer than I thought it would, but I think the finished product will look nice. I will not be selling this one. It has taken FOREVER to do! Note to self: in future, don't pick a pattern with lots of quarter stitches.

Etsy Monologue

I love Etsy! I joined Etsy on December 17, 2008, and I opened my shop on May 23, 2011 (I know, I know, what took so long?). I am coming up to one year of selling. Well, kind of selling. I have sold 5 items so far and I am very excited about that. I get almost as excited about “views” and “admirers” as I do about a sale. Just the fact that someone views my stuff and likes something enough to “heart” it makes my day. I am so thankful to have found a place to showcase my handcrafted items for their viewing pleasure. If I sell something, then that is a bonus. I have 55 items listed now. Woot! My goal is to have 100+ items in my shop.
Happy Friday!

Packing Up Christmas

Yesterday, I packed up the Christmas tree and the decorations. I didn’t enjoy any nice peaceful days leading up to Christmas this year (it seems to come faster every year and I missed nine days when I was away in early December). So, I put on two of my all-time favourite Christmas CDs (on repeat), carefully packed up all the decorations, and sang my brains out to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s The Christmas Attic and Ally McBeal, A Very Ally Christmas featuring Vonda Shepard (boy, can that girl sing) and the show’s cast. The last song on The Christmas Attic CD, “Music Box Blues,” is a seldom-heard song but I love, love, love it. It makes me want to cry. Please listen to it some time. I had the cat sitting on a stack of storage boxes beside the couch and the dog had his head on my leg while I put the “special” ornaments in their respective boxes. It was a long process and I enjoyed every minute of it. The cat was not happy with me packing up her tree and putting all her “toys” away. She sat on ALL the boxes and basically got in the way. At the end, she was sitting on the tree skirt and I had to slide it, and her, out slowly until she finally got up.

She looks so sad here.

I bought this one because of his hat and scarf!

Cross Stitch Budgies

Budgies make great pets. I have owned a budgie for most
of my life. I had one that lived almost 16 years!
He talked, he danced, he was amazing!
He was very special.
