Neil and Gnomes

Neil in Snow

Gnomes in Snow

The Keg

We went to The Keg on the weekend. The meal was delicious. The service was excellent. It was a great experience. Just like in the commercials! I had the Sirloin Oscar (my fav).  It included a grilled top sirloin with shrimp, scallops, asparagus, and a Béarnaise sauce. OMG It was to die for! Unfortunately, I was too full for the crème brûlée. :o(

Cupcake Delivery

How lucky are we? One of my buds is taking a cake-decorating class and fortunately for us she had surplus! She dropped in last night on the way home from her class and we got to pick the ones we wanted. Life is good!

Winter Wonderland

This is what we woke up to today! Yesterday we had hardly any snow. Well, you know what they say up here: if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes (it'll change).

Neil met a few of his friends.

Etsy Monologue

I love Etsy! I joined Etsy on December 17, 2008, and I opened my shop on May 23, 2011 (I know, I know, what took so long?). I am coming up to one year of selling. Well, kind of selling. I have sold 5 items so far and I am very excited about that. I get almost as excited about “views” and “admirers” as I do about a sale. Just the fact that someone views my stuff and likes something enough to “heart” it makes my day. I am so thankful to have found a place to showcase my handcrafted items for their viewing pleasure. If I sell something, then that is a bonus. I have 55 items listed now. Woot! My goal is to have 100+ items in my shop.
Happy Friday!

Cajun Jambalaya

This is the Cajun version of jambalaya (not the Creole version which has tomatoes).
I added spicy hot sausages and chicken. I also tossed in a few shrimp. Why not?

Neil's Paw

I was walking Neil this morning and we were about halfway around our route when he suddenly started to limp. He was favouring his front left paw. I checked his paw and I didn’t see anything. We continued to walk but he was still limping. I then changed our route to get home faster. (I would carry him if I had to.) I crossed the street and decided to check his paw again. I still didn’t find anything. I removed my woolen gloves. My sense of touch would be better without them. Sure enough, I felt in between his pads and I found a small pine needle. Problem solved!

Poor Baby Girl! She would like to go out and explore the outside world!

Weekend Meals

Well, I guess it's no secret that we like to eat.
This weekend we had lasagna and steak subs.
I hope this inspires you to make something delicious!

Joey the Budgie

Wednesday morning I noticed that our little budgie, Joey, was not doing very well. I know the signs. I’ve seen them before. We have had many budgies over the years. Joey is just over eight years old so he is getting up there. He was listless, puffed up, and resting on one leg. It almost looked like he had had a stroke. I didn’t think he would be with us much longer. Much to my surprise, he perked up a bit in the afternoon. Today I would say that he is back to normal. I have never experienced this with one of our birds before (bouncing back like that). Thank goodness he seems to be okay now. What a trooper! This photo was taken the day before he got sick.

Crocs

I love my Crocs. They are a real fashion statement. Not! Doctors and interns wear them FGS (although I have heard lately that they have been banned in some hospitals). My daughter hates them but what are you going to do? I have four pairs (mango, black, beige, and bright green). Only the green ones are fakes. Wearing Crocs while running is not a good idea. I was walking the dog before work one day at around 5:30 a.m. Needless to say, it was still dark out. There was a rather dark patch of sidewalk so I went on to the street and I started running to get to a more lit area of the sidewalk. I stumbled and fell hard. (I think I was wearing my black pair.) I scratched and hurt my knee quite badly and I hurt my hand too. I was so shaken up that I went right home without finishing our walk. I don’t run in my Crocs anymore.
